Two seasons ago in 2005-2006 where Newcastle United is still under the reign of Graeme Souness, we are went in a game with Arsenal having lost 3-0 at Chelsea, 1-0 at Everton and had been beaten 1-0 by Wigan “reserves” before picking up a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at St James’s Park.

Arsenal had been unbeaten in their last eight league encounters before the clas, the Gunners winning six with the other two drawn. It was on Saturday December 5, 2005 when the little Peruvian smashed in his first goal at St James’ Park in 30 months to help Newcastle back into the top ten with his stunning late strike to crush 10-man Arsenal.

From the Chronicle today, Nobby Solano has sent “you can do it” message to his former Newcastle United colleagues ahead of tonight’s match against Arsenal at St James’s Park.

Although Solano told the Chronicle that it is going to be very hard for Newcastle tonight against a fantastic outfit with strong and quality players like Arsenal team at the moment.

“But they were playing brilliantly when they came to St James’s Park two years ago but we got stuck in and beat them. And if I remember rightly we went into the game on the back of a poor spell just like Newcastle are tonight.”

Once again, It’s all left to the players today to do all the best they could to pleased the Toon Army. It is clear that Newcastle fans will never loss their support for the team. Les Ferdinand urges Toon fans to put their grievances to one side and turn the stadium into a cauldron of noise.

“When I played there, the fans weren’t like a 12th man, they were a 13th man too. No wonder we won so many games.” Said Sir Les, “We had a great team under Kevin Keegan, but opponents were often beaten before kick-off because of the intimidating atmosphere.”

Sie Les said the things have fallen away a bit for Big Sam, and he’s understand that the fans are frustrated but an atmosphere like that’s needed even more now.

To add more spirit to Newcastle United players tonight, Nobby added: “My son Matias is a Geordie boy and we will be watching and cheering Newcastle on tonight.”

So, Let’s Do It Lads!!!
