Most Premier League bookies are put us as the underdog against Liverpool tomorrow which I think it was a good thing for us. The underdog seems to have more motivation to beat the seeded team and tomorrow we will show them how to win the game.
Rafa Benitez also feels annoyed by the press questioning him about his chance to be the next England manager. Both Allardyce and Benitez are being on the betting tables as the contenders for future England boss.
Big Sam probably will launch his favorit big and little striking partner to face Liverpool. With Mark Viduka is now back on his match fitness after missing in couple of Newcastle match, will be pairing with Obafemi Martins to fill Owen’s place.
Although he never reveals his plans on each of United’s match, but I think it would be a surprise if he did not go with Martins and Viduka up front. The other options is to push Alan Smith up front if Allardyce seeking the more attacking style of play against the Reds.
“The link-up between Oba and Mark will be a major threat to the opposition’s defence and our biggest source of goals.” Said Allardyce.
The only problem for Newcastle tomorrow is to look for options in defence from a very limited resources this season. Abdoulaye Faye pulled his hamstring against Sunderland, Steven Taylor has come back injured from England’s U-21 international duty, and Claudio Cacapa does not look like he has fully recovered from his injury.
“So that leaves us extremely short in the defensive area, which is a bigger concern at the moment than the frontline.” Big Sam the Chronicle, “At the moment, it is hugely frustrating. That has caused a lot of concern and has eventually affected results.”
Meanwhile, in goalkeeper position, Shay is looking forward for the chance to get his position back against Liverpool after finally overcome all his groin injury problems.
As for predictions, John Barnes who once ever playing for both team during his career said that he believe that Newcastle can win, but he also think that the Liverpool team will be a good test for Newcastle.
“It can be an intimidating place to play and on any given day United are capable of pulling off the good result they need.” Barnes told the Evening Chronicle today, “And if they can get the win, it could turn around their season.”
The other former Newcastle and Liverpool player Terry mcDermott said that although he is now with the Newcastle side as the assistant for Big Sam, he is still keep a close eye on Liverpool and hope that they can win the Premierships title.
“It’s been too long. Seventeen years – that’s frightening. Please God let it be this year – though after we’ve beaten them this Saturday, obviously.”
