United Chairman Chris Mort today urged Toon fans to pump up the volume at tonight's game against Arsenal. He firmly believes the players will respond positively to a loud backing from the stands as they aim to be the first team to give an early Christmas present gift a Premier League defeat on the Gunners this season.
When asking about the “pressure” for Allardyce as being reported by the press these days, Mr. Mort said “We all have to decide how much pressure we want to put on our manager and the players to get things right.”
“Personally, I would like to relieve some of the current pressure in order to give the players a chance to perform.” Added Mort, “We have an ambitious owner, chairman, manager, players and supporters.”
Chris Mort suspect some of Big Sam's new signings are still struggling with the level of expectation that comes with playing for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.
Newcastle chairman believe that the players actually have sufficient quality and will show through. However, in the meantime, Chris Mort is hoping the Toon supporters with the volume of a full St. James' Park is capable of generating a positive influence on what happens on the pitch tonight.
