The Geordies spirits. Going ahead for the next home game against Portsmouth at Gallowgate End, only the Geordies spirit that can win us the game. Newcastle will be once again without Australian giant Mark Viduka this weekend.

Although Big Sam will seen him fit again this Saturday, he won’t be jumpped straight into the first team sheet. Newcastle United gaffer will learn from the 31 years-old striker last experience, when he was forced to get back in action after just back on his fitness and play in the game to get injured again.

“I think Mark will be fit by Saturday but whether we include him in the squad depends on how he gets through some training sessions with the players,” quoted from the official site.

Meanwhile, Shola Ameobi who also just get back from his injury, has been quoted by several media giving his support to fellow Toon mate Michael Owen to get back on his scoring power. Owen has scored 10 times in 23 appearances for the Magpies during an injury-plagued 26 months on Tyneside, and Ameobi cannot understand why people still question him.

Shola said about Owen, “He’s a world-class striker, and he’s someone that Newcastle need to reach the heights we want to reach and realise our ambitions as a club.”

Later on he told about Owen’s desire to be out there, not just for England but for Newcastle United. He feels that all the criticism about Owen is unfair.

“He just shrugs it off, though. He’s a strong enough character to do that.”
