When you like a team, however, you are often worried whether they will get the right transfers, sell or purchase new ones, depending on what the team needs. Miguel Almiron was bought just 6 months prior to Joelinton and had held the record for that much. He was the most expensive purchase that the Magpies had before purchasing Joelinton. He was bought for 21 million pounds, from Atlanta United. His first ten months weren’t the greatest, because he had an injury. Afterwards, he managed to pull through and show everyone why he was a great purchase.

Michael Owen

Owen was purchased in 2005 from Real Madrid for 16 million pounds. His career wasn’t astonishing when he played for the Magpies. He had almost terrible four years, for a player of his caliber. Those four years were plagued with injuries and Owen, while still providing a lot to the team, couldn’t perform at his best. 

Alan Shearer

Shearer made his dream come true when he joined Newcastle United in 1996, his home town. The previously played for Blackburn and always wanted to play for his hometown. He was bought for 15 million pounds. He remains, to this day, the top scorer of the Magpies.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Mitrovic was bought from Anderlecht for 14 million pounds in 2015. He was supposed to be a star player at the time, but due to the relatively poor performances, compared to what was expected of him, he went to Fulham on loan in 2018, after which the deal was made permanent.

These are some of the most expensive transfers that Newcastle United ever had. If the team gets more great players, you can expect the prices to go up, beating even the current record holder, Joelinton.

Transfers are aways something we as football fans anticipate. First of all – it’s beyond fun trying to speculate who’s going where. Wilfred Zaha

The Manchester United ace has been strongly linked with a January loan move to Newcastle. The winger, who joined United in the summer, has not featured much for United and would surely be open to a move. Zaha would bring welcome competition amongst the wide men as well as providing the required quality to lead the Toon up the table during the second half of the season.

Alfred Finnbogason

Newcastle need goals and they need them fast. Micah Richards

Pardew has already hinted that he is looking at Richards as he bids to strengthen his defence. The right-back is struggling to get into the Man City side at the moment and with the 2014 World Cup approaching he knows he needs first team football if he is going to be on the plane for Rio. Football betting fans at least seem to think that a move to Newcastle would be the perfect opportunity to reignite his career. Pardew has also admitted that he is looking at signing British players in January and Richards is expected to be at the top of his wish list.

The current sponsorship contract with Virgin Money, reportedly worth ‘only 3 million pounds’ per season, was reported being called an early halt tonight although Virgin Money sponsorhip agrement was only signed in January this year.

Llambias said that the club is looking for more valuable kit sponsorship, and who knows we can have something that close to what Manchester United’s record of $559 million deal with Chevrolet.

I was – in my own personal thought as a Toon fan – hoping that if any new ‘crazy’ deal is actually out there, the club directors should give Pardew a more significant amount of transfer budget next summer.

But, I also have fear that the new sponsor deal will then following with another stadium name change as part of the new deal. This is not a kind of stability that most of the Toon fans would be expecting from the club directors and chairman.

While in recently the Toon fans are beginning to give some respect to both Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias for the good achievement we have last season, they should not ruin it with any ‘bad moves’ which will resulting negative meaning of ‘stability’.

Now it’s only a matter of paper talks in between Newcastle and his current club, which I hope will not be too greedy in asking the “right” price for the 21-year-old forward who has scored 25 goals in the Eredivisie last season.

The player’s agent Louis Laros said that Luuk has already rejected offers from several clubs because they are not the right move for him, but he can confirm that Newcastle are not one of the clubs that he has been rejected.

FC Twente has been rejected £8 million ($12.5 million) first bid from Newcastle and are holding out for around £10-12 million for their player exit fee, which is I believe will also be the final bid from the Toon side.

The spirit in the squad appears to have survived the loss of Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique. This was my major concern, and to be honest speaks volumes for the way Alan Pardew is doing the job. In the light of this, the replacement of Nolan by Cabaye is now looking like a sensible move for the long term.

Losing Jose Enrique and Joey Barton were perhaps inevitable, although I’m not convinced. I still believe both players could have been retained under diffferent circumstances. Hopefully, Santon will prove an adequate replacement for Jose, and a combination of Hatem Ben Arfa, Gabriel Obertan or Sylvain Marveaux for Barton.

I actually believe we should have replaced Carroll with another highly promising young striker, and had that opportunity with either Connor Whickham or Shane Long. Hopefully, Sameobi will prove to be a better prospect than either of them.

So, where does all that leave us? Yet again, the squad looks very fragile. If we manage to avoid injuries – a helluva big “if” for the Toon – we could still do ok. However, if we pick up a number of injuries I fear we’ll struggle, possibly badly.

I guess the objective now is to maintain the early momentum until January when we will have another opportunity to boost the playing resources, although the January window usually provides a difficult market.

Given where we are today I’d settle for mid-table obscurity, and perhaps a decent Cup run.
