Newcastle United Wins Partnership Innovation Award 2008

Newcastle United has won the Partnership Innovation Award 2008 of The Prince’s Trust & RBS Celebrate Success final at London’s Leicester Square Odeon in a glamorous celebration. United won the award after leading this year other finalists including RAF Digby’s and Scottish Power Learning.

The awards ceremony was gathered by HRH The Prince of Wales and also joined by Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey and Richard E Grant.

“It is such an important part of what this club is all about – improving chances for young people, helping them to reach their full potential.” Said the club chairman Chris Mort.

The award was given to United for the club prime supports of the Prince’s Trust[1] Football Initiative. This movement is also involving other Premier and Football League clubs to help engage and motivate young people. Kate Bradley, the club’s Charitable Foundation Manager and Judy Porteous accepted the award for United.

Newcastle’s endless supportive action for the youth charity has been supporting 12 Teams of young people a year who enrol the youth personal development programme to improve their prospects on both national and regional level.

And the climax of the club charity events, Newcastle was hosted the Challenge Trophy 2007[2] in October 14th, 2007 which is the biggest Trust fundraising event ever held in the North East. The Challenge bringing with it the playing return of the Geordie legends Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley, Paul Gascoigne, Les Ferdinand and Pavel Srnicek.
