We have received the latest news about the injury situation for our midfielder Damien Duff. Sam Allardyce recently has been monitoring his recovery progress and he is worried that Republic of Ireland winger will need more time to deal with it.

Duff gets his last injury in April 2006 when Newcastle united playing against Portsmouth. Big Sam admits that his midfielder continues his recovery from a “career-threatening” foot injury.

Damien Duff may have to wait until the New Year to make a come-back in action for the Black-and-White Army, and Big Sam is certainly looking forward to welcoming the 28-year-old into his Magpies squad.

“We hope that Damien will be able to join in with group training later this month, but in terms of him playing competitive football in the Premier League, we’re going to have to be patient. It might not be until the end of the year.” Said Allardyce quoted from the official site.

Meanwhile, Allardyce has ringing the bell for another injury prone Celestine Babayaro. The Nigerian full-back is out since March after suffering a succession of groin and hamstring problems.

Big Sam told the Chronicle today, He is no longer injured and he’s back in training. But having not played competitively for such a long time he is short of match fitness and that’s why we have not seen in action for long.

Sam said that this year could be Baba’s last chance to prove himself at this club.
