Now who’s going to take the responsibility for Michael Owen’s latest injury in a “friendly” match against Austria? Michael Owen will be out for the next “important” match for England against Croatia on Wednesday and Newcastle United Premiership match against Liverpool on Saturday.

“Injuries are part of football and unfortunately we need to win on Wednesday and I do believe we are going to be without two centre halves and our two centre forwards.” McClaren said “There is spirit in there and they want to do it as much for the fans as anybody. Who could get 4,000 fans to a friendly in Austria? Only England.”

Yeah right, but Toon legend Alan Shearer don’t see the important of such as friendly match for England in just 5 days before the “real battle”.

“What did McClaren learn from that match that he didn’t know already?” Said Shearer, “England were expected to win, and they won. But at what cost? I wouldn’t have played it. He had too much too lose.”

Now whatever the result in Israel vs Russia game today, McClaren will have to learn how to deal in with the situation where he will missed two central forwards as both Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen now get injured. As for Michael’s latest injury, McClaren should say sorry for Toon Army.

Friendliest in whatsoever not meaningless, but with this fixture against Austria was something of a suicide action for Steve McClaren, who lost Michael Owen to a thigh injury that will keep him out for at least one month. Newcastle United will once again also suffering from his injured.

It is interesting to read what the reaction of Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce will be.
