My frustration is that this perhaps the 3rd time under Ashley that we have been close to getting it right (that’s term is interpretive, I realise) but failed to nail it at the end of the day.

I said on Feb 1 that I would judge the business when the transfer window closed on August 31st. Well, here goes. We have failed miserably to replace Andy Carroll. I’m not as gutted as some regarding AC’s departure, but I think Demba Ba is not an adequate replacement. Negative.

There were some mixed emotions after the 20-year-old former Inter Milan defender has signed a five year deal with the Magpies, and will become direct replacement for Jose Enrique who transfered to Liverpool this season. We have also completed the signing of 25-year-old the Addicks goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
