So What Could Go Wrong At Newcastle?

December 27th, 2007 by Mungo

Just some immediate thoughts which no doubt some of you will probably have mentioned elsewhere.

Well first of all, some of you wanted Barton out - you got it. Some of you wanted Butt out - you got it. Some of you wanted Martins out - you got it. Some of you wanted Cacapa out - you got it. And some of you wanted Taylor, Faye, Emre & Duff in - you got it.

Most notably, a helluva lot of you wanted Milner to play on the right wing instead of the left - you got it. I wanted Viduka out - I never got it. So what could go wrong today then?

Big Sam gave the fans what they wanted, more creativity in midfield and a supposedly right winger moved from the left wing to his ‘natural’ right side. Wrong!!!! The creativity was non-existent and Milner had his worst game I have ever seen him play in a Black & White shirt.

Big Sam is right on one thing for certain, Milner causes a lot more damage on the left by cutting inside the right full back and wrong footing him than he does trying to take on a left footed full back by staying wide and get his cross in. In 90 mins today, Milner managed to beat his man and get a decent cross in just ONCE!!!

We lined up today in a 4-5-1 formation with Beye, Taylor, Faye, and N’Zogbia at the back and Milner, Smith, Geremi, Emre & Duff in midfield, with Viduka up front on his own. From the moment the team was announced, I realised that the thread I started earlier on ‘Lardy Arse’ Viduka wasn’t purely my thoughts alone, as the toon fans sang out Oba Martins name from the very first minute until he was eventually introduced as a sub. (Ask anyone else who was there).

imageViduka was static. Full stop. A total waste of a shirt. The formation we had decided to play was crying out for a fast forwrd like Martins to break through the Wigan defence to receive ‘through balls’. Hang on though, there were no ‘through balls’ from our ‘creative’ midfield cos there wasn’t a fuckin hope in hell that Mark Viduka was going to shift his arse to run on for them, so they didn’t play any!!!

The starting line up of a 4-5-1 with Duff & Milner on the flanks and Martins on the receiving end of balls from these two as well as Geremi & Emre MAY HAVE WORKED? We’ll never know cos by the time Martins was introduced it was too late and anyway it was Geremi who made way instead of the obvious straight swap of Martins for Viduka.

The bright spots of the day were the return of Duff who looked sharp and fit (lost a bit of weight I thought) and another good performance from N’Zog who surely will always be destined to play at left back if we intend to play both him and Duff in the same team?

The nearly 6,000 Toon fans were in great spirits and in great voice. One wag however reminded me at the end of the game what I had said before kick-off which was “well we’ve turned up, lets hope the team does”. They didn’t.

Chants included “we’re shit and we’re sick of it” and “Shearer, Shearer, Shearer” which made it all a little bit too uncomfortable for Mike Ashley sitting amongst the toon fans in our end. How long before he stops doing that then? I always have a fear that unless something changes for the better FAST, then one of our ’scum’ fans will turn on him with a spit directed at him or heaven forbid a punch thrown in his direction?

The Shepherd Out and Mike Ashley In party has I reckon, just wound up to an end today. Unless we get a point at Chelsea and 3 against Man City, I reckon Sam won’t be given any January spending money and could well be out on his arse? Mike Ashley and Chris Mort are going to have to make their first big decision.

Rant over, I’m tired…

Toon Supporters Finally Backing The Team 200%

December 3rd, 2007 by shearyadi

There’s one interesting news today about how supporters can have an effect to the players performance. Mark Hughes said that the mansgers of any team have got to make sure the players you have are able to cope with the demands of the football club they’re playing for.

Mark Hughes not just good as a player, but he also have good thought about geting players to play for him. Wor Allardyce can only hope his own buys can do as good as they were before signing in for United.

Claudio Cacapa said earlier before the Blackburn match that he is still as good as he was, and one horror act will not make him as bad player. He said he just need more time to mixed well with other defenders.

Alan Smith has good statement. He is may be the only player we have this season which have been played for other team with the same high demands like Newcastle United. I see that in fact the Toon squad this season have a good potential, and it’s just a matter of time until Big Sam can found the good formula to mixed them well.

Well, you may say now I’m the shadow of Big Sam. I have write all about him for the last two days, and you’re right about that. I feel bad have judge him as total failure, I was too blind to see what is the real situation he’s been dealing with for the last couple of weeks. I feel bad we have put him in this such jeopardy.

And I guess, most of the Toon Army now have seen it too. Smith said, Football fans (Newcastle supporters) know when a team is given 100 per cent. They know when fans deserve clapping off and they know when they deserve a bollocking.

Alan Smith know that we are actually always give the team and the manager our 200% support. They both go hand in hand. We deserved booing last Saturday (against Liverpool). Nobody came out and said ‘why they’re booing - we don’t deserve to be booed’

“It’s the manner of defeats that disappoints the fans and the players. Today they were singing us off at the end.” He said more after the Blackburn match.

Last weekend, Mike Ashley was among those fans cheering off the players at the end - the Newcastle owner appears to have developed a liking for queuing up with the supporters. He is enjoying his time as Toon supporters after his away-day trip to the Stadium of Light.

Allardyce may find it could spell good news for him if the hardcore Newcastle fans continue to support the club like the 6,000 who did at Ewood Park. With 52,000 Geordies acting like they were at Ewood Park this Wednesday, there’s hope.

Newcastle Supporters Are the Most Loyal Football Fans

November 27th, 2007 by shearyadi

Do I need to say more about this? For those who are other Premier League club supporters must say I’m insane or being arrogant just like how the Croatian coach commented on Michael Owen’s statement about none of Croatia players will have the chance to play for England squad.

Newcastle United are close to selling out the Darwen End at Ewood Park for Saturday’s game against Blackburn Rovers, The official club said. United are travelling to Ewood Park next weekend without any single win in four games, but still the lads will have the backing of around 5,000 fans.

Steve mcClaren probably can be proud of the England fans when he managed to get 4,000 supporters to Austria when England team making their suicidal friendly match which caused them loosing Michael Owen and the ticket for Euro 2008.

Mike Ashley is Genuine Toon Army

November 10th, 2007 by shearyadi

Mike Ashley decided to sit with all the Newcastle supporters with his Toon top instead of not wearing his shirt and sit on the macKems director box. What a spirit! This is the most precious kind of support from the owner of Newcastle United, something that was never happened before in the Premier League history from any other Premierships club executive.

Mike AshleyThe Lads should not let him and around 3,000 Toon Army disappointed, this is the game that we should not get lost in. The fact is we never get lose on their home since 1979-1980 season, and Sam Allardyce should not making a new record break history for the opposite team, like he did last week. This time it would be very unacceptable.

Newcastle United chairman Chris Mort will be on the directors box alongside with mackems Chairman Niall Quinn.

Steve Wraith, editor of Players’ Inc, as quoted from Chronicle, said: “It is not very often you get a chairman wanting to wear a top at a match and a lot more cynical fans probably saw it as a publicity stunt when he wore it as Middlesbrough.”
