Newcastle United Stars in Short News

December 10th, 2007 by shearyadi

Habib Beye admits at the official site that he did not know he had scored the winner against Birmingham City until he heard the roar of the Toon Army.

Habib Beye celebrate

The Senegal star ghosted in at the near post and headed the ball in for his first goal in Black-and-White shirt to snatch a last gasp three points for United win since last October.

“I didn’t know when I had scored because of the way I headed the ball I had my head down,” Beye told Newcastle World TV. “I just heard the fans in the stadium and then looked up and saw everyone celebrating.”

Meanwhile, full-back Celestine Babayaro has played his last game for Newcastle. Both defender and the club have reached an agreement today about the player payments for the most of his remaining months of Toon contract, which expires at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old defender earned an applause in February when he turned out for the club in United’s 2-1 league win over Liverpool, after which Roeder revealed that his younger brother David had died just hours earlier.

Sam Allardyce, who has a flu bug after the rainy Saturday’s match said he’s still feeling great and looking for more good news by getting some players back for Saturday’s game with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

“I have arranged a behind-closed doors game this week when we are hoping that the likes of Damien Duff, Abdoulaye Faye, Claudio Cacapa and Shola Ameobi will all play.” Big Sam said to ChronicleLive today.

He also said that Michael Owen expecting to be back with the rest of the first-team squad nearer the end of the week.

“And while Saturday will probably come too early for him he should certainly be back for the game with Derby County at St James’s Park a week on next Sunday.”

With the fact that United will have Oba Martins away on African Cup of Nations duty earlier next month, Allardyce is more concerned about getting Owen, who is still one of the greatest goalscorers in the world on his opinion, back in a black-and-white shirt.

December 6th, 2007 by shearyadi

All Newcastle players should realise now what does it means for the Geordies faithful to see the lads performing well and showing the passion for football, the one they have shown yesterday against Arsenal.

Although this was just a point, their performance was a huge boost and matter the most for everyone within black-and-white tradition. The performance that ease the pain of the Liverpool and Portsmouth fixtures.

“We were disappointed not to win the game. To say that against a side who are top of the table and playing very well is incredible.” Milner said “It was important we did not rest on anything, and now we have to take what we did at Blackburn and in the Arsenal game into Birmingham.”

James Milner revealed he and his team-mates have start to “play for the black-and-white shirt”. He put in a superb showing and piled on the problems for the most of Arsenal back four.

United’s now collected two points from the possible of 18, however, with next home game against the Blues, hopes are high the recent poor run can stop now.

The Hero of The Day, Geordie boy Steven Taylor dubbed his equaliser against Arsenal as “the most important goal I have ever scored” and dedicated it to Newcastle United’s “magnificent supporters”. He said on the Chronicle today.

“It was my first Premier League goal at St James’s Park and I’m dedicating it to the fans – they were unbelievable.” Taylor said, “That’s the most important one I’ve scored. What a time to score.”

Last night was his fifth senior goals for United and it would have been a real celebrations when he almost grabbed a late winner.

“I nearly scored again late on but Emmanuel Eboue got it over his own crossbar. I don’t know how he did that. It could have been an own goal, and I was disappointed with that.” He added more, “But it was a good team performance from everybody, and we had some great chances”

No “Player Power” We Have “Toon Army Power”

December 6th, 2007 by shearyadi

Last Night Newcastle re-United Man-of-the-Match Alan Smith, said the Magpies’ battling draw with Arsenal proved that everyone at the club are pulling together in the same direction. The result was also shown that there’s no thing such as “Player Power” but the “Toon Army Power”.

Geordie in Wonderland - the Wildhearts

Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Premier League current leaders Arsenal, put good foundation for Newcastle and can be one step forward in the right direction. For a club that has been under “intense pressure” in recent weeks, Steven Taylor’s equaliser on the hour earned a point to their efforts which is clearly deserved it in front of an appreciative St James’ Park crowd.

“I think tonight showed everyone is 100 per cent behind everything we’re doing.” Smith said, “We need everyone together and we showed that tonight. With commitment like that we can only go forward.”

“If we play with passion like that we won’t go far wrong. The goals people score against us are unstoppable and tonight’s was a kick in the teeth - but it means everything if a teams is together.”

Newcastle United recently shows not enough passion after being a goal behind in the last couple of games before everything turns out to be clear last weekend at Ewood Park.

“I didn’t want to see confidence ebb away. I then saw a performance at Blackburn [last Saturday] but not a result, tonight I’ve seen a performance and a result.” Sam Allardyce said “Once we scored we saw Arsenal on the back foot and they could not get going.”

Steven Taylor’s equaliser in an hour mark liften-up the lads spirit even more, and the crowd roar at St. James’s Park even burning the fire upon them and United going mad to pursued a winner for the last entire 45 minutes.

“I feel very unlucky not to have won the game because we had the chances and could not find the finish.” Allardyce added.

Barton, We Are Forgive You and Now Give Your Best!

December 5th, 2007 by shearyadi

After being critized back for his critism about Newcastle United supporters, Joey Barton has attempted to smooth things over with the St James’s Park faithful today ahead of the Premier League encounter with leaders Arsenal tonight. He is saying that he does not meaning to question the fans’ loyalty.

“When I spoke about the atmosphere at our last home game against Liverpool, the point I was making was that, through results good or bad, we all need to stick together on and off the pitch,” Joey said. “So it is clear everyone needs time to come together and move the club on and that will happen much, much quicker if everyone is pulling together.”

“In fact, I actually made the point that it is up to the players to lift the fans when results are not going our way. What I said was intended to be a rallying call after a defeat. It was not a blast or an attack.”

Well, Joey you have our forgiveness and now it’s your turn to show us what you can do best tonight. We always watching and paying the highest repect for our good players, make us sing “There’s Only One Joey, Joey, Joey Barton!” show us the good side of you in football field.

Meanwhile, Kevin Keegan today said that maybe Joey didn’t mean to say the Newcastle fans are ‘Vicious’. Keegan’s thought he was actually want to say ‘Frustrated’ which is more appropriate.

“They are not vicious. That’s the wrong word. I don’t think Joey Barton meant vicious. Frustrated would be a better word.” Said Keegan.

There is No Newcastle United “Player Power” Act

December 4th, 2007 by shearyadi

Newcastle United’s longest-serving players, Shay Given and Steve Harper today are trying to set the record straight for last night “Comfort Zone”. Both United’s senior players told the TimesOnline nothing could be further from the truth, despite the team having lost four in five games following Saturday’s reverse at Blackburn Rovers.

Last night reports of senior players dissenting over tactics, training and plans to stay away from the north-east over Christmas. But the two goalkeepers insist the story that has appeared is total and utter nonsense. Both players said Sam Allardyce has the full backing and support of every Newcastle United player and still working together as one to bring success to the football club.

Given and Harper also insist that there is constant communication between the players and Allardyce. Both said at Newcastle United they have a player committee which is led by Geremi includes James Milner, Mark Viduka and ourselves.

One thing that I see as important is there are an open discussion between the players and the manager. Far from that being ‘player power’ or any other ridiculous description, this is sensible and constructive communication and a key part of the process of helping to build a stronger football club which will take us forward.
