Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes the club can turn around their poor run of results and thinks that the wins will start coming as soon as some key players return from injury.
The Magpies are now without a win in four league matches and another draw against Maritimo in the Europa League on Thursday evening, before taking on Pardew’s former team Southampton over the weekend in the Premier League.
Pardew said: “We've had a …
Well, firstly I thought we were better than last week – although that doesn't say a whole helluva lot. Secondly, I thought Swansea were good: their passing and movement were of a different class to our enthusiastic plodding.
They were the better team and deserved the three points, but only just managed to do that. I couldn't fault the effort yesterday but we lacked cohesion, playing like a group of individuals rather than as a …
Yesterday we were so close to write the new chapter in our history at Anfield with a comfortable win. From our 18 Premierships games there we only can manage one win and it was in the early days of my Newcastle United history.
That day is when Kevin Keegan was Newcastle United manager and also our first Premier league season. Newcastle players who scored were Andy Cole and Rob Lee.
And when Cabaye finally break …
First half we were poor. With the exception of a few decent breaks down the left from Santon we showed very little effective attacking play.
Cabaye still looked as if he was on his holidays and Ben Arfa was having one of those frustrating afternoons when he kept running into trouble. Our delivery into the box, both from open play and from set pieces was absolutely woeful.
Villa were no better but were worki g …
With one of the signings of the Premier League last season and one of the players of Euro 2012 so far, Newcastle fans should be bursting with pride that Yohan Cabaye is one of their own.
When he arrived at St James’ park last season, few fans would have been familiar with the midfielder, but didn’t we soon learn what a real gem Alan Pardew had picked up. His quality and the way he controlled …
Feeling pretty low right now, but trying to take comfort from the fact we gave the likely Champions a helluva good game and could easily have taken a point from it.
We weren't quite ‘at it' today and I have a feeling fatigue played a part, especially as the 2nd half wore on.
We were pretty solid defensively but the m/f were largely preoccupied containing Citeh's attacking talent, and the supply to the front two …
Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is convinced that Hatem Ben Arfa should be rewarded for a fine Premier League season with a place in France’s Euro 2012 squad this summer.
The youngster has been influential in Newcastle’s fantastic campaign that has seen them sit 4th in the table with just a few games to go.
A highlight for him was the fine goal during a 2-0 victory over Bolton earlier this month and it was …
It is hard to imagine given the trials and tribulations of the past few seasons that with a mere handful of matches remaining in the League this year that the toon army are still in with a very realistic shout of attaining a hallowed place in European competition next season.
And not just in the Europa league, but with a reasonable shout at getting a coveted champions league spot. With the wheels properly off the …
Liverpool started quicker than we did and created a few half chances with Bellamy getting far too much space and causing some problems for Jonas down our left.
However, I thought we generally controlled the game in midfield, increasingly so as the game progressed, and over the course of the game we created more clearcut chances.
We were never under any concerted pressure defensively, but Williamson and Perch were really good. They contained Carroll fairly …
It's interesting that we are being credited with a good defensive display last night, even by Wenger, although I personally thought our defending in the 1st half was dreadful with only poor final balls and finishing by Arsenal keeping us level.
Santon was literally all over the place, and not even Jonas's efforts down the right were good enough to contain Sagna and Walcott. Santon's defending is looking increasingly dodgy. Accordingly, Colo was pulled all …
