I thought Pompey edged the 1st half, while we comfortably won the 2nd. Pompey made an @rse of their chances, while we took ours well and could easily have had a couple more.

Despite making better use of our chances we still conceded possession too easily in that 1st half, when I thought we struggled in midfield.

Pre-season start with a win against league-one Hartlepool United

Without further signs of new players to come, Newcastle started the pre-season game with a 4-1 win against league one side Hartlepool United. Without several key players on the starting line-up, Keegan men are still the stronger side at Victoria Park.

Danny Guthrie, Newcastle United second signing this summer

My friends, it looks like we will have another new player signing for Newcastle today, as both Liverpool and Newcastle have agreed about the transfer fee for the service of Danny Guthrie. The Merseyside club is now given the permission for United to speak directly with the player.

It’s officially today United will have a new-look on their executive management team in place after Chris Mort stepped down from his role as Chairman and the appointment of his former Deputy Chairman Derek Llambias to become the club Managing Director.
