Shearer Speaks: Sam needs time

Who has the more powerful voices over the Toon Army? Is it Mike Ashley who own the club, Chris Mort or Sam Allardyce?

The answer is none of them has the character and charisma to cool down the hot-blood Geordies.

Yesterday’s result once again have causing the havoc and critism over Sam Allardyce’s tactical mis-judgement against the ordinary Reading team.

Coming to Madejski stadium with multi-millions pound, highly paid players squad, Big Sam can only bring the team to play ‘negative’ football. Many of the Toon Army believe that Newcastle shouldn’t playing defensive role against a team like Reading.

The resul may be different if the Lads come out to an attacking play, give them no chance to prepare since the first kick-off, chasing the ball all round and delivered as many crosses as possible.

His decision to give a rest to N’Zogbia probably right, but to keep the other player who is clearly dropped so fast like Geremi, probably a mistake. I wonder how it would be if we have Alan Smith right from the start.

United legend Alan Shearer told the Chronicle yesterday as he feels Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce still need more time to rebuild his squad.

Shearer has been impressed with the Magpies best start this season since the KK era, both as a Geordie and Match of the Day pundit.

And the wins over Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, have made them unbeaten at St James’s Park.

He told the Chronicle: “Sam needs time to put his ideas across. Things have gone OK and, apart from the top four, I don’t think there’s that much out there. I would be hopeful of a top seven or eight finish.”

Well, seventh or eighth position next summer are probably not the Geordies expecting from Sam Allardyce. But compares to last season 13th place finish, seven or eight next summer and UEFA place considered as much better improvement.

Shearer added: “It’s going to take time – everything’s completely new – chairman, owner, manager, players and staff.

“It’s not going to happen overnight – patience is going to have to be the key word.”

Alright Big Al, we have been patience for almost 15 years now since the last time we have won anything and another year of waiting is no big deal for us. Who said it was easy to support Toon?
