Joey Barton may have not been in action for Newcastle United this season, but he has already showing his dedication and full support for the club. He said the England job is something that will not bothering him to hink of.
Joey has tasted the national duty as a subtitution in England friendly match against Spain, and although he thinks to have selected for his country is nice but never be his main priority.Barton also determined to play only for the club who bought him and paying his wages every week.
“People get carried away about playing for their country. It’s always nice to be selected and it’s always a privilege and an honour but I’d much rather be successful for Newcastle than I would for England.” Said Barton as quoted from the DailyMail.
Barton has on the sideline since his £5.8 million arrival from Manchester City because of metatarsal fracturing. In order to chase his game fitness, He will play again in a club friendly tomorrow as the premier league been off for EURO2008 qualification match at Wembley. He is targeting a return to the first team for Tottenham Hotspur’s visit on October 22.
On his last competitive match for the reserve team against Wigan, Barton have played for 65 minutes and score one goal. He is insisted to carry on until 90 minutes because that’s the way he always wanted to push himself little bit, but he accepted the wisdom behind the decision is to keep his fitness.
“They were saying to me, ’come off’ after 65 minutes because that was always the plan,” Barton said.
