Middlesbrough born defender, Jonathan Woodgate is being reported as one of King Kev target to sign for United this month. Currently playing in permanently for his hometown club after on loan from Real Madrid last season.

Woody, the player which is very close to the phrase “injury ravaged”, Woodgate never had any season free from injury and he only booked 200 appearances in total from his nearly ten years career as a professional footballer.

His three years journey with Real Madrid after £14m signing from Newcastle United only saw him 9 appearances. His debut for Real a year after signing for them, saw him score an own goal and get sent off.

Now Keegan wants him back at Newcastle? I don’t think so.

While playing for Leeds in January 2000, Woodgate and teammate Lee Bowyer were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and affray in which an Asian student suffered severe injuries. After the second trial, which ended in December 2001, Bowyer was cleared of both charges while Woodgate was convicted of affray and sentenced to community service.

He is signed for Newcastle United, in January 2003 for a fee of £9 million from Leeds. Although showing an impressive displays for United and one of fan’s favourite for a while, a serious injury saw him end his final season with Newcastle.
