Saturday Match Report – August 11, 2007
Bolton Wanderers 1 – 3 Newcastle United

A dream debut for Rozehnal, Geremi, Smith and Viduka in Black and white shirt as Sam Allardyce will try to break Bolton’s unbeaten record at home against Newcastle United.

Howay new Skipper! The dream is started in 11 minutes when Faye comes through the back of Milner as the pair challenge for a high ball and United have a free-kick in a promising position.

N’Zogbia takes the free-kick on the right-hand side and flashes left-footed across goal, the ball eludes everyone and ends up in the far corner of Jaaskelaninen’s net to give us the lead.

No wait for too long for the Toon to take more advantage against the premier league most physical team. This time Oba Martins take the Magpies flying even higher with his goals.

His first goal this season is an absolutely brilliant. James Milner’s left-wing cross is competed for between Geremi and Samuel and the ball drops to Martins eight yards out, he chests it down before spectacularly finishing with an overhead kick from close range which flies past a helpless Jaaskelainen.

His seconds goes from Taylor long ball forward which drops into Martin’s feet. After he challenged with Cid, the Nigerian spins away and cracks a 25-yard effort goalwards which takes a deflection off Faye and with Jaaskelainen already grounded the ball spins past the helpless Finnish keeper and into the empty net for Magpie’s third.

Bolton get one back at second half when Viduka wins a corner off the shins off Cid. N’Zogbia deliver the ball but McCann won the ball at the far post and he gets away from the challenge of Milner and Geremi in midfield.

McCann feeds the ball to Nolan, we are out-numbered at the back where everybodies goes forward for the corner, the Trotters skipper slides the ball to Anelka, with Stephen Carr hunting him down Anelka shoots the ball and beats Harper from inside the area.

The Magpies are trying to get the control back, but the Trotters side are on the mood after they hit one back. Diouf mis-hit his left-wing cross, allowing Harper to gather the ball easily inside the six-yard box.

Stephen Carr is forced to poke behind Nolan’s cross at the far post in 64 minutes after Speed had worked an angle for the skipper on the right. Diouf takes the flag-kick but Harper plucks the ball from the air inside his six-yard box.

Bolton’s sub, Heidur Helguson goes into the referee’s book for a late challenge down the back of Rozehnal’s leg in 67min.

After seeing his side being forced to defend in most of the second half, Allardyce quickly change the Toon formation into 4-5-1. Martins gives the way for Solano and Viduka being replaced by Shola Ameobi up front.

He is the Rock solid for Toon!

The home side still took the control of the game with Diouf gets away from two United challenges on the left and crosses towards the edge of the six-yard box. It takes a clever header from Rozehnal to deflect the ball clear of Anelka.

Faye fouls Ameobi 35 yards from goal as the pair challenged for Harper’s long ball. Geremi drills goalwards and beats the wall before Jaaskelainen manages to keep the ball out from an excellent effort by the United new skipper.

With four minutes left, Allardyce bring in another defender while he replaced James Milner with Peter Ramage. Geremi and Ameobi works the ball short and try to kill time next to the corner flag, but Geremi later concedes a throw-in for the Trotters side and was booked by Chris Foy for lobbing the ball away in anger.

Great match and excellent performance by all the Lads. Credits to Martins and N’Zogbia who scores today. Harper was also looks comfortable under the goal, Rozehnal has proven a solid rock in our defence. Milner is good on supplying the ball into the front men. How about Smith?

Although not being mentioned much or have been involved in any of wor three goals, he shows that he’s deserved to wear the black and white. Viduka has it’s own game style, but I believe he will get in the score sheets not very long, maybe from his second games for Toon 🙂
