Only no more than 24 hours until the end of January transfer window, but there’s still no real sign of any new player to come to St. James’ Park.

The latest news is we are about to continued Glenn Roeder’s effort to sign Derby County’s young midfielder Giles Barnes out from Pride Park.

Roeder’s have been trying to bring the highly-rated England U19 player to St. James’ while he still playing in the championship league last year.

Giles who is a nephew of ex-West Ham United player Bobby Barnes is also getting an interest from the London club, but Keegan who is only interested to bring in players with experience in Premier League will try to pursue United owner Mike Ashley for more cash.

United first offer of £2 millions for Barnes have been turned down by Derby’s manager Paul Jewel, but I believe if Keegan can come up with an improved offer, the Rams will have no option but to let their attacking midfield player leaving up to the North East side.

imageMeanwhile, the other news report that Newcastle’s newly appointed technical co-ordinator who is responsible for the European players scouting Jeff Vetere, has been identifying Atalanta’s most promising young players.

The reports said Newcastle have put a £300,000 offer on the table to the Italian club for their youngster.

Both club not willing to give any further confirmation about this mysterious player and determined to keep his identity sealed in an envelope until both sides have completed the deal.

We will following this story closely and will report in here for any future developments.

Yeah, a creative midfielder, outstanding left-back and a striker with killer instinct would be perfect. Only hours left until the transfer window closed, but hopefully by the last minutes Keegan will have at least one player signed for Toon.
