Kevin Keegan Was Never Afraid to Sell Anyone

May 31st, 2008 by shearyadi

Various stories for the last couple days have re-emerged regarding some of Toon players future at St. James’s Park. The likes of James Milner, Damien Duff and Emre have been on the tabloids headline as the potential players to leave United next season.

These series of rumours have been connected by the fact that Newcastle will do a heavy cut of player wages and make reinforcement to build younger and fresher team squad. The sale of Milner has been suggested for ca. £5m - and both Liverpool and Everton are interested.

Our friends at Newcastle said, the propose to sell one of our younger, promising, and presumably lower paid members of the squad, if it’s true, will makes little sense to most of the Toon Army. If KK is thinking of parting with the lad, the only comfort we can draw from it is that KK sold Andy Cole - and was never afraid to sell anyone, no matter their stature in the squad, if he could see a way of improving things.

About our Turkey international midfielder Emre Belozoglu, currently under contract with until 2011 after joined Newcastle from Inter Milan for 3.8 million pounds in 2005, the AFP news today has made a report that Fenerbahce have agreed a deal with Newcastle.

Emre will sign a three-year contract with Fenerbahce worth 10.5 million euros (16.3 million dollars) next week. Other news is reporting Duff as one of mackems target.

Meanwhile, our skipper has new opinions about Kevin Keegan impact at Newcastle. From his latest interview with a media yesterday, Owen fancies KK to hit the ground running at the start of next season.

“It was never going to happen straight away. Not only did we have some tough games, but when he came we had a lot of players low on confidence. But if you could ever ask for a man to pick people up and get the best out of them, it’s Kevin Keegan.”

Owen think the more improvement to come from is that the Toon players are all enjoy training and playing alongside each other. Kevin has brought a real feelgood factor into the club. He is also backed Keegan to make four or five quality additions to the current Toon squad.

“He obviously knows his stuff. He can see a player, and he can see things that need tweaking. Tactically he is very good.” Owen added more, “And I think he has been a fantastic appointment for us, and we’ve all enjoyed his time so far.”

The Press Association is understood that we have opened the first initial talks with Emana.

Steve Coppell Cries For Help from Madejski Stadium

May 24th, 2008 by shearyadi

After being painly relegated from the top flight in the final day despite won their last match, Reading will have to ballance the funds by releasing some of their star players who has high pay rates.

image

One player that is the most possible to leave is the England left-back Nicky Shorey. Coppell needs to adapt their finances to the Coca-Cola Championship, and will have to cut almost £500,000 from their weekly pay-outs and Nicky Shorey, who has served the club for seven years, is the main target from the likes of West Ham United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

“Nicky Shorey and a few others will be looked at as potential people to leave,” Nigel Howe, club’s chief executive said. “Nicky has made it clear for a long time that he hasn’t been too happy at the club. Well, let’s hope that somebody comes in with a good offer.”

Shorey has been linked with us when the previous manager is preparing his January transfers, but the Royals side is rejecting any offers from other Premier League club for their star player. Nicky was also said have signed new contract with them at that time, but now the table is turn and they have to release him to survive in the Championships league.

I wouldn’t mind if Keegan make a move for 27 years-old Shorey, who is still in the range of our “young players” policy, while one of today’s news already said that West Ham are ready to make £5m bid to take him move to Upton Park.

Meanwhile, Sam Vokes who is one of other player that has been linked for a move to St. James’s Park couple months ago, has completed his move from Bournemouth to Wolves in an undisclosed fees.

May 21st, 2008 by shearyadi

Newcastle United is facing another challenge from Spurs to land the highly-rated Turkish starlet, Arda Turan, with Middlesbrough also said to be interested with the 21-year-old midfielder.

Just like when we chase Modric, numerous reports are saying that Newcastle are to be favourites to snap up the youngster and the deal is set to be done before Euro 2008 starts next month.

The Northern Echo said from their sources in Istanbul, there have been couple of top level talks between Galatasaray and Newcastle. They claim that United is already put an initial offer of around £8.5m for the creative midfielder, while Galatasaray president has told the Tyneside delegation can sign Arda Turan if they tables a formal bid of around £13m.

Turan, a creative left-footed midfielder, has scoring seven goals this season for Galatasaray and has 16 senior international caps under his name. Keegan is projected him as the ideal replacement for Damien Duff who will leave Newcastle this summer. Portsmouth, Spurs and Blackburn are all reported interested in snapping him incase Keegan is set to let him leave.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray manager Cevat Guler’s long-standing interest in Emre could be the key to Newcastle’s successful bid to bring Turan in near time soon.

Rangers Visit To Tyneside Could Be Part of Smith-Cuellar Swap Deal

May 20th, 2008 by shearyadi

The Ibrox lads will have a visit to St. James’s Park in August 6th for a friendly game with Newcastle United according a report from Setanta, while the Primera Liga club Valencia is next to follow on August 9th.

After receiving the warning from United’s authority about Toon’s transfer policy to only sign younger player in the summer that could down the prospect of getting City’s skipper Richard Dunne, Kevin Keegan is now keen to take Spanish Carlos Cuellar to Newcastle.

image

United chief of recruitment Dennis Wise also reported having plans to weighing up our bid to £9million for the Spanish giant, after seeing the player in last week’s UEFA Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg at the City of Manchester Stadium. Cuellar, 26, has made big impact in his first season with Gers since signing from Osasuna last summer.

If the deal goes through, Ibrox manager Walter Smith will be looking for Alan Smith as a swap deal. I can see there’s no harm for us if we let Smith join the SPL team, but Smith £60,000-a-week wages will be a problem for Rangers. My suggestion for Alan Smith, being a Rangers fan, I hope you willing to receive less and play for them.

From other transfer news, United is also fancy FC Basel’s 19-year-old striker Eren Derdiyok who scored against England for Switzerland at Wembley when he came on as a second-half sub in February. Kevin Keegan is also keen to make a double £8m swoop for Galatasaray’s Arda Turan and Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez.

Meanwhile, another Toon reported target Morocco international, Mbark Boussoufa is set to sign a new deal with his current club Anderlecht, to end any speculation of his move to Tyneside.
