June 11th, 2008 by shearyadi

It’s all started back in June 11th 2007, when the first blog post was writen for the Magpies Zone. Since the first post I never wanted to make a blog for my site, it is still staying with the conventional html site during those early days.

The Magpies Zone blog kick-off with a blog that hosted at wordpress.com which is still available until today and have google PR 3, while the real blog have none of it :)

Nevermind, I want a blog that using my own domain and although I’m planning to celebrate the first anniversary with a new look for this blog, but since I don’t have enough time to do one so I will stick with this look and will try to launch the new design at the start of the new season in August.

I also want to say thanks to all my loyal visitors, the advertisers and especially to my friends at Newcastle who are very generous allowing me to use their posts in our forum for this blog. Ladies and gentlemen a big applause please for Clarky, Dan2, Gallowgate Jim, HeedNhands, Mungo, and Swift!!! You can meet them at NOTBBC forum.

I hope the first anniversary of Magpies Zone will following by the next anniversaries through the years in the future. I will always try to give the best opinions here, directly from the heart of a Toon Army!

Ashley Wants to Dominate the St. James Park Fortress

June 11th, 2008 by shearyadi

To be honest, I was about to say that these couple of months until the start of next season are the most silent and worrying moments in my entire 15 years of supporting the Toon.

And from the Journal news today, United owner Mike Ashley is going to take a more hands-on approach in the running of the club following a plea from Kevin Keegan. They said to have spoken to a senior member of the club hierarchy and has been given the insight story of how Ashley prepares his second season as the owner of Newcastle United.

The fact that Ashley is now made the decision to be more directly involved in the club is the other result from the meeting in London with Keegan last month. It was to believe that during the meeting, KK has said that if Ashley wants Newcastle to be successful, he has to spend more of his work time devoted to it.

Meanwhile, Magpies Zone source Sir Jonno said in our forum that he was worry with the Journal headline, and that Ashley is volunteering to go in goal to cut the wages bill. It may be a good or a bad thing that he’s getting more involved. Does it suggest a greater interest and enthusiasm - or crisis? Either way it’s interesting, and probably a positive thing.

“The stuff on signing younger up and coming players is something we’ve always recommended on here and is welcome.” Sir Jonno said, “However, the odd ‘established star’ here and there is not unwelcome either! Pragmatism should always be the order of the day.”

Also from the most respectful fan site True Faith, they have writing a post questioning the new regime as quoted below:

There is an undeniable absence of visible leadership at Newcastle United right now and a lack of clarity in the communications the club is making with supporters, which is creating a vacuum into which the gobshites of the football press are filling with the usual drivel.

Interesting, very-very interesting to see the final results of these messy situation at St. James’s Park. We, the supporters, are hoping only the best for the club and within the next couple months are also important to see how well we would be prepared before the new season starts.

The Most Funniest, Off-beat and Irreverent Football Book

June 4th, 2008 by shearyadi

What a perfect day to write an update today after being force down couple days ago and making the optimization here and there for this blog, now I’m ready to kick-off again. Well, not really, as I’m still working on a BIG BANG for Magpies Zone whole new look for the first anniversary of its blog version next week.

Well, what’s new today…hmmm, want to know who we will buy this summer? Nah! I haven’t seen any sign of real potential buy this week as the media news is also don’t have anything new but keep recycled the old speculation about Arda Turan and blah, blah, blah!

But, I have a good news from my friend Daniel Maier, well at least I thought that we’re friends after knowing he has launch his new book at Amazon ( let me know Dan, are we friends? How about a free copy of your book? :) ). He’s a longlife crawler and good poster at our Newcastle United forum.

Ok, if you want to know what’s this book all about, below are some useful information from the amazon. I give this book five stars so I don’t think there’s any reason why you not buying this. GO NOW and buy some before it out of stock.

To celebrate winning the FA Cup by wearing its lid as a hat - the smell inside a Ford Fiesta carrying five overweight England fans back to Lincolnshire - the nagging feeling of resentment when you let a four-year-old score a goal past you in the garden - the lovely velvety bag the cup draw balls are kept in - every football fan has seen or known these things.

But who has the words to describe them? Wouldn’t football be more fun if there was a word for surreptitiously timing a pre-match minute’s silence, just to see if it’s accurate? Or for the feeling of frustration that the half of the league table you catch sight of on TV is never the half with your team in?

Shouldn’t there be a verb that means: to reduce a 2-0 deficit to 2-1 in injury time, grab the ball out of the net and run back to the half-way line with it in order to get the game restarted as quickly as possible, despite the fact that your actions are completely futile since it’s the other team that’ll be kicking off again? Yes. There should be. And there is.

“Footypedia: The Alternative Football Dictionary” is the hilarious, insightful and essential repository for all those things in football that up ’til now have simply taken too many words to describe. It is the year’s funniest, most off-beat and irreverent football book.

From the Inside Flap
To celebrate winning the FA Cup by wearing its lid as a hat.
To slightly resent letting a four-year-old score a goal past you in the garden.
To sneakily time a pre-match minute’s silence, just to see if it’s accurate.
Every footballer and fan knows of these things. But who has the words to describe them?

Wouldn’t discussing football be easier if there was a word for the ancient art of signing a Japanese player to increase shirt sales in the Far East? The feeling of frustration that the half of the league table you glimpse on TV is never the half with your team in? Or that affront you feel when the Pools Panel decides your team would have lost?

Yes. There should be. And there is. Footypedia: The Alternative Dictionary of Football is the essential repository for all those things in football that up ‘til now have simply taken too many words to describe.

The year’s funniest, most off-beat and irreverent football book.
