On form again, Andy Carroll gives King Kev a real sign of talent with his best performance for United second string last night to bagged the first win for Adam Sadler as reserve boss against Middlesbrough reserves at Billingham Synthonia.

The Gateshead-born Carroll also performed well on the Riverside Stadium last season and claim the matchball after a 5-1 win over the same team. Last night reserves game also mark a debut for United latest signing, the Hungarian U19 international Tamas Kadar on the back four.

Carroll open the scoring in 22 minutes with his trademark of powerful header from Mark Doninger’s corner. A fantastic double save from United reserves goalkeeper Fraser Forster, denied Egyptian striker Mido’s 12-yard drive and Jason Kennedy’s rebound when the home side try to make the equalizer.

Jonny Godsmark finishing make it two for United reserves three minutes before the break, and Carroll fired his second in 69 minutes, after the reserves forward missed a penalty seven minutes earlier.

Big Andy completed his hattrick with a low 12-yard shot from Godsmark’s cross into the Boro’s area from United right-wing.

United substitute Dan Neary turning home from a close range to complete Toon reserves Howay 5-0h in the dying minutes, Jonny Godsmark again the provider.
