Chris Mort has urged United team to be doing better than before to bring the pride back home. He also indicated that Sam Allardyce could be given fresh funds to spend on new players during the January transfer window, according to AFP today.

Mort and United’s owner Mike Ashley had insists there will be no new boss to replace Sam Allardyce. Big Sam still struggling to win respects from the St James’ Park faithful and he is said unhappy with Newcastle 11th position in the Premier League table.

Newcastle chairman also said United’s position wasn’t a true reflection of the squad strength, and with our current players, we should be in more respectable position rather than we were in now.

“The returns of Damien Duff, Shay Given and Michael Owen from long-term injuries, as a result of the hard work of the backroom staff and the players themselves, have also been very important to us.” Chris Mort said,

“With these players added to some high-quality players already at the club, I think we all expected the team to be doing better on the pitch than it has been.”

Further more, United’s chairman is expected to make a couple of further additions to the squad in January, but he would prefer Big Sam add players in the summer transfer window than in January to give more chance to settle into the team.

But with Newcastle are set to lose Faye, Beye, Geremi and striker Obafemi Martins when the African Nations Cup starts later this month, Big Sam would have no options but to strengthen his current squad. Newcastle has not enough back-up players with at least near the equality to the current first team.

Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce could be reunited with Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim on loan basis until the end of the season. Former Bolton man who is also being a target By Sam Allardyce in last summer, has started only nine Premier League games with the Blues.

Sam Allardyce in desperate need of defensive reinforcements to cover the defisit because of African Cup of Nations and has been reported today to take Ben Haim from Stamford Bridge.
